Defence Section

The Defence Department was established in May 1992 and handles bilateral military relationship between the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Denmark. Tasks of the Defence Department’s include following the defence and security situation, mediation of cooperation as well as participation in briefings, meetings and relevant inspections. The Defence Department has a large network with defence attachés from other countries including through various associations and working groups.


The Defence Department is integrated into the embassy and administratively subjects to the ambassador which is why both the Defence Attaché and the rest of the staff works to support the ambassador and the embassy's work as a whole. The Defence Attaché refers to the Danish Ministry of Defence and reports to it on a regular basis as well as to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant authorities in the Defence.


The Defence Department also handles defence and security relations with Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
